Our Vision

We have a vision for Vanderbilt's future as a sustainable campus. At our 25th reunion, we want to see solar panels, gardens, and bikes in place of coal plants, factory food, and parking lots. We believe that Vanderbilt should embrace sustainability in every way possible in an effort both to reduce consumption and to improve student life.

Our map of Vanderbilt the Possible serves as one model to help us imagine a greener campus.  We see our project as an icebreaker for a wide ranging conversation about how we as a community believe Vanderbilt should evolve.  We hope our ideas will inspire the Vanderbilt community to address the reality of climate change with pragmatic optimism.

The ideas we present here are drawn from what is already happening on other campuses.  While some of our ideas are more idealistic than others, all of them are achievable. For our vision to be realized, we need people to be informed, organized, and active.  Working together, we can build a stronger, greener Vanderbilt community.
